Solution of a Linear Equation –
We say that x = p, and y = q, is a solution of ax + by + c = 0, if ap + bq + c = 0
Example.1) Show that x = 4 and y = 3 is a solution of the equations 5x – 3y = 11
L.H.S = 5x – 3y, & R.H.S = 11
If we put the value of x & y in L.H.S and we find, 5x – 3y
=> (5 X 4) – (3 X 3)
=> 20 – 9 = 11 (R.H.S)
So, it is proved that L.H.S = R.H.S
So, x = 4, and y = 3 is a solution of 5x – 3y = 11.
