If X ⊆ Y, the set X is represented by a circle within the circle representing the sets Y

Union of Sets –

The sets A ∪ B may be represented by the shaded portion of the following Venn Diagrams under the three situations where 1) A & B are overlapping, 2) A & B are disjoint set, 3) A ⊆ B
