Horizontal Method of Subtraction of Algebraic Expression –
To subtract an algebraic expression from another, add the negative of the first expression to the second expression.
Example.1) Subtract 3x⁵y² from 18x²y⁴
Answer) To Subtract 3x⁵y² from 18x²y⁴, we add - 3x⁵y² to 18x²y⁴
So, 18x²y⁴ - (- 3x⁵y²) = 18x²y⁴ + 3x⁵y² (Ans.)
Example.2) Subtract 8a²b⁴ from 24a²b⁴
Answer) To Subtract 8a²b⁴ from 24a²b⁴, we add - 8a²b⁴ to 24a²b⁴
So, 24a²b⁴ + (- 8a²b⁴) = 24a²b⁴ - 8a²b⁴ = 16 a²b⁴ (Ans.)
