# CLASS-8BODMAS RULES

Rules of BODMAS –

To simplify an algebraic expression containing various operations, we first open brackets (B) then operate ‘of’ (O), followed by division (D), multiplication (M), addition (A) and subtraction (S) in that order. This is called the rules of BODMAS.

There are some example are given below for your better understanding –

Example.1) Simplify [{8x²– 5x (5x + 3) + 15} - 7x²+ 2x (3x – 5)] + 5x (5 – 2x) – 18

Ans.) [{8x² – 5x (5x + 3) + 15} - 7x² + 2x ( 3x – 5 )] + 5x ( 5 – 2x ) – 18

=   [{8x² – 5x (5x + 3) + 15} - 7x² + 2x ( 3x – 5 )] + 25x – 10x² - 18

=  [{8x² - 25x² - 15x + 15} - 7x² + 6x² - 10x] + 25x – 10x² - 18

=  [ - 17x² - 15x + 15 – x² - 10x ] + 25x – 10x² - 18

=   - 18x² - 25x + 15 + 25x – 10x² - 18

=   - 28x² - 3                                     (Ans.)

Example.2) Simplify [{8x²y – 5x (5x + 3) + 10} - 7x² + 4xy (3x – 5y)] + 3x (5y – 2x) + 25

Ans.) [{8x²y – 5x (5x + 3) + 10} -7x²+ 4xy (3x – 5y)] + 3x (5y – 2x) + 25

= [{8x²y – 25x² - 15x + 10 } - 7x² + 12x²y – 20xy²] + 15xy – 6x² + 25

= [ 8x²y – 25x² - 15x + 10 - 7x² + 12x²y – 20xy² ] + 15xy – 6x² + 25

= [ 20x²y – 32x² - 20xy² - 15x + 10 ] + 15xy – 6x² + 25

= 20x²y – 32x² - 20xy² - 15x + 10 + 15xy – 6x² + 25

=  20x²y – 38x² - 20xy² + 15xy - 15x + 35               (Ans.)
