Division of Monomial by Monomial
Divide the numerical coefficient of the dividend by that of the divisor. Also, divide the powers of the literals in the dividend by the corresponding power of the divisor and then finally multiply all the quotient.
Example –
45 x⁵ y⁴
1) 45 x⁵y⁴ ÷ 9 x⁸y² = -----------------
9 x⁸ y²
= 5 x⁵⁻⁸ y⁴⁻²
= 5 x⁻ᶟ y² (Ans.)
25 x⁷ y⁵ 5 x⁷⁻⁴ y⁵⁻⁵
2) 25 x⁷y⁵ ÷ 9 x⁴y⁵ = -------------- = --------
15 x⁴ y⁵ 3
= 5/3 xᶟ y⁰
= 5/3 xᶟ. 1
= 5/3 xᶟ (Ans.)
