CLASS-6
MULTIPLICATION OF DECIMAL NUMBERS

MULTIPLICATION OF DECIMALS

Example.1) Multiply 25.25 from 20.5

Ans.) Above all given numbers if you observe those all are unlike fractions. then

25.25 = 25.25 , 20.5 = 20.50

Step.1) Convert the given decimals into like decimal.

Step.2) Multiply the decimal without decimal point by the whole number

Step.3) Place the decimal point so as to obtain as many decimal places in the product as there are in the decimal numbers

Step.4) In the given decimal number has two decimal places, so the product of given two numbers will have 2 + 2 = 4 decimal places So, the result of that given multiplication is

  517.6250  = 517.625      (Ans.)

Example.2) Multiply 40.2 from 5.225

Ans.) Above all given numbers if you observe those all are unlike fractions. then

40.2 = 40.200 , 5.225 = 5.225

Step.1) Convert the given decimals into like decimal.

Step.2)  Multiply the decimal without decimal point by the whole number

Step.3)  Place the decimal point so as to obtain as many decimal places in the product as there are in the decimal numbers

Step.4) In the given decimal number has two decimal places, so the product of given two numbers will have 3 + 3 = 6 decimal places So, the result of that given multiplication is  210.045000 = 210.045  (Ans.)
