CLASS-6
PERIMETER OF SQUARE

PERIMETER OF SQUARE -

The perimeter of a square is the total length of all its sides. In a square, all four sides are of equal length, denoted as "s." To calculate the perimeter (P) of a square, you simply add up the lengths of these four equal sides:

                   Perimeter (P) of a square = 4s

The perimeter of a square is the total length of all its four equal sides. To calculate the perimeter (P) of a square, you can use the formula:

                Perimeter (P) of a square = 4 × side (s)

Where:

  • P is the perimeter of the square.
  • s is the length of one side of the square.

Here, "side" represents the length of one side of the square. Since all four sides of a square are of equal length, you can simply multiply the length of one side by 4 to find the perimeter.

perimeter

Example.1) If you have a square with each side measuring 10 centimeters, you can find its perimeter as follows:-

Ans.)

Perimeter (P) of the square = 4s

Perimeter (P) = 4 × 10 cm

Perimeter (P) = 40 cm

So, the perimeter of the square is 40 centimeters. This means that if you were to walk around the boundary of the square, it would take 40 centimeters to complete one full lap.           (Ans.)

Example.2) Suppose you have a square with each side measuring 6 centimeters. To find the perimeter, you can use the formula.

Ans.) Perimeter (P) of the square = 4 s

In this case, s = 6 cm (the length of one side).

Perimeter (P) = 4 × 6 cm = 24 cm

So, the perimeter of the square is 24 centimeters. This means that the total length of all four sides of the square is 24 centimeters.    (Ans.)

Example.3) If you have a square with each side measuring 7 centimeters.

Ans.) Perimeter (P) of the square = 4 × side

         Perimeter (P) = 4 × 7 cm

         Perimeter (P) = 28 cm

So, the perimeter of the square is 28 centimeters. This means that the total length of all four sides of the square is 28 centimeters.       (Ans.)
