TYPES OF FRACTION

__TYPES OF FRACTION -__

**Fractions are numbers that represent a part of a whole. They consist of two main components: a numerator and a denominator. The numerator is the top number, representing the part of the whole, and the denominator is the bottom number, indicating the total number of equal parts the whole is divided into. There are several types of fractions:**

__Proper Fraction:-__A proper fraction is a fraction where the numerator is less than the denominator. For example, 1/3, 2/5, and 7/8 are proper fractions.__Improper Fraction:-__An improper fraction is a fraction where the numerator is equal to or greater than the denominator. For example, 5/4, 9/7, and 11/11 are improper fractions.__Equivalent Fractions:-__Equivalent fractions are fractions that represent the same portion of a whole, but their numerators and denominators may be different. For example, 1/2, 2/4, and 3/6 are equivalent fractions.__Like Fractions:-__Like fractions are fractions that have the same denominators. For example, 1/5 and 3/5 are like fractions.__Unlike Fractions:-__Unlike fractions are fractions that have different denominators. For example, 1/4 and 2/3 are unlike fractions.__Reciprocal or Multiplicative Inverse:-__The reciprocal of a fraction is obtained by interchanging the numerator and denominator. The reciprocal of a/b is b/a. For example, the reciprocal of 2/3 is 3/2.__Unit Fraction:-__A unit fraction is a fraction where the numerator is 1. For example, 1/5, 1/2, and 1/7 are unit fractions.__Zero Fraction:-__A zero fraction is a fraction with a numerator of 0, which results in the fraction being equal to 0. For example, 0/7, 0/2, and 0/9 are zero fractions.__Proper Unit Fraction:-__A proper unit fraction is a fraction where the numerator is 1, and the denominator is greater than 1. For example, 1/2, 1/3, and 1/8 are proper unit fractions.

** 10. Mixed Fraction:- A mixed fraction is a combination of a whole number and a proper fraction. It is typically represented as a whole number and a proper fraction separated by a plus sign.**

** 1 3 2**

** For example, 3 ------, 2 ------, and 5 ------ are mixed fractions.**

** 2 4 9 **

**These are some of the common types of fractions you may come across in mathematics. Fractions play a fundamental role in various mathematical operations and applications, including arithmetic, algebra, and geometry.**
