CLASS-6
DIVISION OF DECIMAL BY 10,100,1000

DIVISION OF A DECIMAL BY  10, 100, 1000,………

Example.1)  Divide 312.5 by 100

Ans.)   100 ) 312.5 (    Step.1)  Perform the Division by converting                                   dividend decimal number into natural number                               via replacement of decimal point to right places by 1 step and add 1 Zero (0) to the divisor and consider 1000 as a divisor instead of divisor 100 .

Step.2)  So, now given decimal number is    considered as natural number. Now remember the table of 1000 and put 3 in the quotient and put 3000 under Dividend and we will get 125 as  reminder. Now we again try to divide by the table of 1000, but the problem is 1000 has four digit and 125 is three digit so we can not divide. Now bring decimal point to the quotient and place after 3 and put one 0 (Zero) after remainder. So now remainder 1250 is considered as four-digit number and now we will again divide through the table of 1000 and we get 250 as remainder which is three-digit number, and with influence or power of decimal point place after 3 of the Quotient again we will put 0 (Zero) after remainder 250 to make it four-digit number 2500, again we will remember the table of 1000 and the process will continue till we get 0 (Zero) as remainder.

SHORT PROCESS OF DIVISION OF SAME DECIMAL NUMBER BY 100

Example.1)  312.5 ÷ 100 = ?

Ans.)  312.5 ÷ 100 = 3.125

Step.1)  When a decimal is divided by 100, the decimal point moves from right to the left by two places, because as 100 have two 0 (Zero).

Example.2)  Divide 457.53 by 10

Ans.)   10 ) 457.53 (

Step.1)  Perform the Division by converting dividend decimal number into natural number via replacement of decimal point to right places by 2 step and add 2 Zero (0) to the divisor and consider 1000 as a divisor instead of divisor 10.

Step.2)  So, now the given decimal number is considered as natural number. Now remember the table of 1000 and put 4 in the quotient and put  4000 under Dividend and we will get 575 as  reminder. Now we again try to divide by the table of 1000, but the problem is 1000 has four-digit and 575 is three-digit so we can not divide 575, Now take 3 from Dividend and put after remainder & it stands 5753 and it is divisible by 1000 and we put 5 after quotient 4. Now we will try to divide by the table of 1000, but it can’t be done, because reminder 753 is three-digit no. and 1000 is four-digit number, bring the decimal point to the quotient and place after 5 and put one 0 (Zero) after remainder. So now remainder 7530 is considered as four-digit number and now we will again divide through the table of 1000 and we get 530 as remainder which is three digit number, and with the influence or power of decimal point place after 5 of the Quotient again we will put 0 (Zero) after remainder 530 to make it four digit number 5300, again we will remember the table of 1000 and the process will continue till we get 0 (Zero) as remainder.

SHORT PROCESS OF DIVISION OF SAME DECIMAL NUMBER BY 100

 Example.1)  457.53 ÷ 10  =  ?

      457.53 ÷ 10 = 45.753

Step.1) When a decimal is divided by 10, the decimal point moves from right to the left by one place, because as 10 have one 0 (Zero).
