CONVERTING PERCENTAGE INTO RATION

CONVERTING PERCENTAGE INTO RATION -

Converting a percentage into a ratio involves expressing the percentage as a fraction in its simplest form. Here's how you can do it:

  1. Write the Percentage: Let's say you have a percentage, such as 40%.
  2. Express as a Fraction: To convert 40% to a fraction, write it as 40/100.
  3. Simplify the Fraction: Simplify the fraction by dividing both the numerator and denominator by their greatest common divisor. In this case, the greatest common divisor of 40 and 100 is 20.

     40            40 ÷ 20           2

 --------- = ------------ = -------

    100           100 ÷ 20          5

So, 40% is equivalent to 2/5 in its simplest ratio form.

Let's take another example:

If you have 75% and you want to convert it to a ratio:-

     75

 --------

    100

Simplify the fraction by dividing both the numerator and denominator by their greatest common divisor, which is 25:

    75 ÷ 25           3

 ------------ = -------

   100 ÷ 25           4

So, 75% is equivalent to 3/4 in its simplest ratio form.

In general, to convert a percentage p% to a ratio:

      p

 --------

    100

And then simplify the fraction if possible to get the simplest ratio representation. This ratio represents the proportional relationship of the given percentage to the whole (which is 100 in terms of percentages).
