CONVERTING FRACTION INTO PERCENTAGE

CONVERTING FRACTION INTO PERCENTAGE -

Converting a fraction into a percentage involves expressing the fraction as a ratio out of 100 and then multiplying by 100 to get the percentage value. Here's how you can do it:

                                                                                                                  3

1. Write the Fraction:-  Let's say you have a fraction, such as -------

                                                                           5

2. Express as a Percentage:- To convert 3/5 to a percentage, you can write it as a ratio out of 100:

      3             20

  -------- X --------

      5             20

So, 3/5 is equivalent to 60% as a percentage.

3. Multiply and Simplify:- Multiply the fraction by 20/20 to make the denominator 100 -

     3           20           60

 ------- X -------- = -------

       5           20          100

4. Convert to Percentage:- Now, you can express 60/100 as a percentage by multiplying by 100:

     60

 -------- X 100 = 60%

    100

Here's another example:-

If you have 2/7 and you want to convert it to a percentage:

     2          100          200

 ------ X -------- = --------

    7          100          700

Now, simplify the fraction by dividing both the numerator and denominator by their greatest common divisor, which is 100:

   200 ÷ 100           2

 ------------- = -------

   700 ÷ 100           7

      2

  ------- X 100 = 28.57%

      7

Rounded to two decimal places, 2/7 is approximately 28.57% as a percentage.

In general, to convert a fraction a/b to a percentage:

      a

 --------- X 100

      b

This represents the ratio of the given fraction to a whole of 100, expressed as a percentage.
