CLASS-5
SIMILAR & NON SIMILAR DECIMAL NUMBER

Similar & Non-Similar Decimal Numbers

To make add or subtract Decimal number every number should be similar in form, suppose there are two non-similar number to add and one is three decimal number and another is two decimal number, so before add we have to transform two given non-similar decimal number in similar decimal number form and then we can add both the number or we can subtract from each other as per the given instruction.

There are some example given below for better understand –

2.48 this is two decimal numbers but it can make three decimal or four decimal numbers via putting zero ‘0’ at the right end of decimal point after digit placed after decimal point like 2.480  (three decimal point) and 2.4800 (four decimal point).

But, 2.480 = 2.4800 = 2.48  (value of zero ‘0’ right end of digit after decimal point is valueless but satisfy the requirement)

Similarly, 25.480 (three decimal point) = 25.4800 (Four decimal point),

7.024 ( three decimal point) = 7.02400 ( five decimal point)

Please remember whenever we have to add or subtract between two numbers, first we have to convert the same decimal form as if we can add or subtract each other.

Example.1 )  Non-similar numbers - 2.05, 0.895, 25.42

Ans.)  If you observe above all decimal digit, you can find two decimal numbers and three decimal numbers. First we have to convert them as the same decimal number which will be higher side, so

So, the new converted decimal form should be as like as that 02.050, 00.895, 25.420

Example.2 )  Non-similar numbers - 214.247, 8.21, 19.2147

Ans.)  If you observe above all decimal digit, you can find two decimal numbers, three decimal numbers, and four decimal numbers. First we have to convert them as the same decimal number which will be higher side, so

So, the new converted decimal form should be as like as that 214.2470, 008.2100, 019.2147
