RULES OF DECIMAL DIVISION

Important Fact about Decimal Division

1) When decimal is divided by 10, then the decimal point is moved one place to the left. Exam- 253.5 ÷ 10 = 25.35

2) When decimal is divided by 100, then decimal point is moved two places to the left. Exam- 253.5 ÷ 100 = 2.535

3) When decimal is divided by 1000, then the decimal point is moved three places to the left. Exam- 253.5 ÷ 1000 = 0.2535

4) When decimal is divided by 10000, then decimal point is moved forth places to the left. Exam- 253.5 ÷ 10000 = 0.02535

An extra zero ‘0’ is placed to complete the decimal place to satisfy fifth decimal places.

5) Division of any decimal number with 1, the Quotient always must be the same number itself which has been obtained as ‘Dividend’.
