CONVERSION NUMERIC OF METRIC MEASURE

CONVERSION NUMERIC OF METRIC MEASURE

In the above all discussion, we can now understand that as per the state of the product unit measurement should be different. For the liquid state of the product unit should be ‘Liter’, for a solid product we use ‘Gram’ or ‘Kilogram’ and to express distance we use the unit ‘Meter’ or ‘Kilometer’ mostly.

Now we will learn how to convert from  big units to small units and small units to big units. Some examples are given below for better understand.

Please remember for addition, subtraction, multiplication and division measure unit should be the same unit or those given measurement unit should be converted into the same measure unit otherwise addition, subtraction, multiplication and division cannot be done.

 Exam.1) convert  2kg, 15g, 8cg, 3 mg  to mg

Ans.)  Before solving the problem first read the problem sum very carefully. From the problem you can find, entire problem should be converted into ‘Milligram(mg)’ unit.

So, before conversion we observe all the given higher measure unit and convert to lower measure unit as desired and then add to find the exact desired answer.

Exam.2) convert  3hg,  8dag, 5dg  to cg

Ans.)  Before solving the problem first read the problem sum very carefully. From the problem you can find, the entire problem should be converted into the ‘Centigram(cg)’ unit.

So, before conversion we observe all the given higher measure unit and convert to lower measure unit as desired and then add to find the exact desired answer.

Exam.3) convert  2dag, 6g, 12dg, 4cg, 7mg  to kg and find out the sums.

Ans.)  Before solving the problem first read the problem sum very carefully. From the problem you can find, entire problem should be converted into ‘Kilogram(kg)’ unit.

So, before conversion we observe all the given higher measure unit and convert to lower measure unit as desired and then add to find the exact desired answer

Exam.4) convert  5kg, 6g, 12dg, 4cg, 7mg  to dag

Ans.)  Before solving the problem first read the problem sum very carefully. From the problem you can find, entire problem should be converted into  ‘Decagram(dag)’ unit.

So, before conversion we observe all the given higher measure unit and convert to lower measure unit as desired and then add to find the exact desired answer

So, the result is  500.724700 kg  (Ans.)

Now we will learn some simplified method of conversion from lower measurement unit to higher measurement unit –

  1)   Convert  12 kL 25 L to Kiloliter (kL)

                                      25

  Ans.)   12 Kl 25 L  =   12  ----------  =  12.025 kL     (Ans.)

                                     1000

2)  Convert  8 hg  52 g  to Hectogram (hg)

                                 52

Ans.)   8 hg 352 g =  8  ---------  hg   =   8.52 hg       (Ans.)

                                100

3)   Convert  25 dag  257 mg  to Decagram (dag)

                                       257

Ans.)   25 dag  257 mg  =  25 --------- dag = 25.0257 dag  (Ans.)

                                     10000

Now we will try to understand the relation of measuring unit in some different way for better understanding -

From Higher measurement unit to lower measurement unit

From the above chart/picture we can observe that for every measuring unit, the difference is 10. That’s mean to reach from a measuring unit to the very next measuring unit the score should be 10 only, but from one unit to next two, three or more than three steps if you would like to reach then score should be measured like multiplication of 10 with 10 and that will depend on as per the requirement.

For example, if we wish to convert ‘Kilogram (Kg)’ to ‘Gram(g)’ then, count how many steps you need to jump from ‘Gram’ to ‘Kilogram’. Now you will find there are three steps, Gram - Decagram - Hectogram -  Kilogram. So, 1 Kilogram should be; 1 Kilogram (Kg) = 10 x 10 x 10  Gram = 1000 Gram (g) (multiplication of three 10 for three measurement Unit)

Similarly if we wish to find ‘Milligram’ from ‘Hectogram’ then count how many steps you need to jump from ‘Milligram’ to ‘Hectogram’. Now you will find there are five steps,

Milligram - Centigram - Decigram - Gram - Decagram - Hectogram. So, 1 Hectogram should be ; 1 Hectogram (hg) = 10 x 10 x 10 x 10 x 10 Milligram = 1,00,000 Milligram (mg) (multiplication of five 10 for five measurement Unit)

From Lower measurement unit to Higher measurement unit

From the above chart/picture we can observe that for every measuring unit, the difference is 1/10. That’s mean to reach from a measuring unit to the very next measuring unit the score should be 1/10 only, but from one unit to the next two, three or more than three steps if you would like to reach then score should be measured like multiplication of 1/10 with 1/10 and that will depend on as per the requirement.

For example, if we wish to convert ‘Gram(g)’ to ‘Kilogram(kg)’ then, count how many steps you need to jump from ‘Kilogram’ to ‘Gram’. Now you will find there are three steps, Kilogram - Hectogram - Decagram - Gram.  So, 1 Kilogram should be ; 1 Gram (g) = 1/10 x 1/10 x 1/10  Kilogram = 1/1000 Kilogram (kg) (multiplication of three 1/10 for three measurement Unit)

Similarly if we wish to find ‘Hectogram’ from ‘ Milligram’ then count how many steps you need to jump from ‘Hectogram’  to ‘Milligram’. Now you will find there are five steps,

Hectogram - Decagram - Gram - Decigram - Centigram - Milligram.  So, 1 Milligram (mg) should be; 1 Milligram(mg) = 1/10 x 1/10 x 1/10 x 1/10 x 1/10 Hectogram = 1/1,00,000 Hectogram(hg) = 0.00001 Hectogram(hg) (multiplication of five 1/10 for five measurement Unit)
