RULES OF MULTIPLICATION

MULTIPLICATION

As now we know, multiplication is nothing but a repeated addition.

The concept of multiplication is mention below –

 

             Multiplicand   X    Multiplier

      ---------------------------

                   Product                                                                            

                                                               OR

 

       Product  = Multiplicand X Multiplier

 

In multiplication the number being multiplied is called Multiplicand and the number by which it is being multiplied is called Multiplier, and the Product is called the multiplication of Multiplicand and Multiplier and the end of these found Product will be considered as answer.

ALWAYS REMEMBER “THE UNIVERSAL TRUTH” THAT IS =

1) IF ANY NUMBER MULTIPLIED BY ‘0’ (ZERO) IS ‘0’ (ZERO), FOR EXAMPLE

4 X 0 = 0  ,    7 X 0 = 0.

18 X 0 = 0  ,    9 X 0 = 0.

2) AND IF ANY NUMBER MULTIPLIED BY ‘1’ (ONE) IS THE NUMBER ITSELF, FOR EXAMPLE

5 X 1 = 5   ,    6 X 1 = 6.

15 X 1 = 15  ,   20 X 1 = 20

3) IN A MULTIPLICATION OPERATION THE PRODUCT CAN BE EQUAL TO THE NUMBERS BEING MULTIPLIED, OR GREATER THAN THEM, BUT NEVER THE SMALLER  EXCEPT WHEN ONE OF THE NUMBER IS ZERO ‘0’

5 X 7 = 35  ,   12 X 5 = 60

15 X 8 = 120  ,  11 X 9 = 99

ABOVE ALL THE CASES PRODUCT IS GREATER THAN MULTIPLICAND & MULTIPLIER

BUT THERE ARE SOME EXCEPTION –

14 X 0 = 0 ,       10 X 0 = 0

IN ABOVE CASE IT HAS BEEN SEEN THAT, PRODUCT IS SMALLER THAN MULTIPLICAND & MULTIPLIER

4)  FOR EACH AND EVERY MULTIPLICATION FACT THERE ARE TWO DIVISION FACT, THAT’S MEAN HE PRODUCT DIVIDED BY THE MULTIPLICAND EQUALS THE MULTIPLIER AND THE PRODUCT DIVIDED BY THE MULTIPLIER EQUALS THE MULTIPLICAND –

5)  IN A MULTIPLICATION, POSITION OF MULTIPLICAND & MULTIPLIER WHATEVER IT MAY BE PRODUCT REMAIN THE SAME OR THE ORDERS OF NUMBERS BEING MULTIPLIED DOES NOT CHANGE THE VALUE OF PRODUCT
