FINDING EQUIVALENT FRACTION VIA REDUCING TO LOWEST TERM -

Writing Fraction in Lowest Term -

Step.1) List factors of the smaller number.

Step.2) Check for common factors

Step.3) Divide both numerator and denominator by the greatest common factor.

                                                                            36

Example.1) Find out whether the fraction ------ is equivalent or not?

                                                54

Ans.) Here the given fraction is 36/54.

As per the rules, first we have to find out the common factor by which we can divide both denominator and numerator.

fraction

                           36

So, here in fraction ------ we can observe

                         54

that, both the denominator and numerator is divisible by 9. Now the obtained fraction is 4/6. Now both the numerator & denominator are divisible by 2

now, the new obtained fraction is 2/3, and this is the simplest form of the 36/54. Also proven that given fraction 36/54 is equivalent fraction.  (Ans.)
