# CLASS-4CONVERSION OF IMPROPER FRACTION TO MIXED NUMBER

CONVERSION OF IMPROPER FRACTION TO MIXED NUMBER -

As we know so far that, in Improper Fraction that has the denominator is smaller than the numerator.

STEPS -

To change an improper fraction to a mixed number we divide the numerator by the denominator. The quotient (the result of division) is the whole number of the mixed number.

The remainder is the numerator of the fractional part of the mixed number.

## Please Note - If there were no remainder the improper fraction would simplify to a whole number.

as a example, ------, ------, ------, etc.,

3         9        4

Therefore,

------ =  9   [quotient 9 is a whole number, and there is no reminder]

3

36

------ = 4  [quotient 4 is a whole number, and there is no reminder]

9

------ = 16  [quotient 16 is a whole number, and there is no reminder]
