CLASS-4
ARRANGE DECIMAL NUMBER IN DESCENDING ORDER

ARRANGE DECIMAL NUMBER IN ASCENDING ORDER -

Earlier we have learn, how to arrange digit or numbers in big to small (Descending) orders. Now we will learn how to arrange decimal numbers in ascending order.

Rules or steps for finding decimal number in descending order.

Step.1) Write the decimal fractions one below the other as shown above, column wise.

Step.2) Convert all given decimal numbers into highest decimal places.

Step.3) Compare each place value and then arrange from BIG TO SMALL.

Step.4) Write the answers using greater than ( > ) or smaller than ( < ) sign.

Example.1) Arrange the numbers 234.568, 123.85, 124.32, 99.99, 44.2, 19.457, 78.23, 56.587, 34.09, 86.124 in descending order. Also find smallest and biggest number.

Ans.)

decimal

As you can see from the above table, we have converted all the given decimal number into highest decimal places.

Step.1) Write the given decimal fractions one below the other as shown above, column wise.

Step.2) The highest decimal place is 3, so convert the rest decimals to 3 decimal places.

Step.3) Compare each place value and then arrange from big to small.

So, the given numbers in ascending orders are - 234.568, 124.32, 123.85, 99.99, 86.124, 78.23, 56.587, 44.2, 34.09, 19.457.

Step.4) Write the answers using the greater than ( > ) or less than ( < ) sign.

So, as per descending (big to small) order we have -

 234.568 > 124.32 > 123.85 > 99.99 > 86.124 > 78.23 > 56.587 > 44.2 > 34.09 > 19.457

So, the smallest number is 19.457 and the biggest number is 234.568 (Ans.)

Example.2) Arrange the numbers 12.01, 9.002, 22.7, 3.879, 0.789, 10.04, 8.23, 17.457, 4.23, 8 in descending order.

So, the given numbers in ascending orders are - 22.7, 17.457, 12.01, 10.04, 9.002, 8.23, 8, 4.23, 3.879, 0.789.

Step.4) Write the answers using the greater than ( > ) or less than ( < ) sign.

So, as per descending (big to small) order we have -

22.7 > 17.457 > 12.01 > 10.04 > 9.002 > 8.23 > 8 > 4.23 > 3.879 > 0.789

So, the smallest number is 0.789 and the biggest number is 22.7  (Ans.)
