PREDECESSOR & SUCCESSOR
PREDECESSOR
Predecessor number is a number which is as order just before the given number or numbers.
Q1.) For example. If I ask you, please tell me the predecessor number of 10.
Method.1) In order the numbers are - 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15.
In the above number series, it has been clearly shown that, before 10, 9 is the number, so 9 is the predecessor number of 10.
Method.2) On the other way, simply deduct 1 from the said number to find predecessor number. that is -
10 – 1 = 9, so 9 is the predecessor number of the 10.
Q.2) Find the predecessor number 25 & 32
Method.1) In order the numbers are –
……… 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28, 29, 30, 31, 32, 33, 34, 35.
In above number series, 24 is the processor number of 25 and 31 is the predecessor number of 32.
24 & 31 is the just before number of given numbers, 24 & 31 is the predecessor number of the given number 25 & 32 respectively.
Method.2) On the other way, you have to deduct 1 from the said numbers.
25 – 1 = 24, 24 is the predecessor number of 25.
32 – 1 = 31, 31 is the predecessor number of 32.
SUCCESSOR
The successor number is the just next number of the given numbers.
Q1.) For an example. If I ask you, please tell me successor number of 10.
Method.1) In order the numbers are - 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15.
In above number series it has been clearly shown that, after 10, next number is 11, so 11 is the successor number of 10.
Method.2) On the other way, simply add 1 with the given number to find successor number.
10 + 1 = 11, so 11 is the successor number of the 10.
Q.2) Find the successor number of 127 & 234.
Method.1) in order the numbers are -
…………..125, 126, 127, 128, 129, 130, …………….., 230, 231, 232, 233, 234, 235, 236, 237, 238, 239.
In the above series of numbers it has been clearly shown that, 128 is the next number of given number 127, so 128 is the successor number of 127 and 235 is the next number of the 234, so 235 is the successor number of 234.
Method.2) On the other way, simply add 1 with the given number to find successor number.
127 + 1 = 128, so 128 is the successor number of the 127.
234 + 1 = 235, so 235 is the successor number of the 234.
