FRACTION

Fraction –

Fraction is nothing but to understand about part division. If anything is divided into two or more number of pieces, then each piece is called fraction of whole thing.

There are some story has been discussed below to better understand about fraction. 

Example.1)

Suppose Richard & Dona love to eat pizza, and they ordered a full pizza. They were ready to divide it in two equal parts.  

When the pizza is divided into two equal parts, each part is called a half, and the half is written as 1/2. Two half makes a whole or complete part.


Example.2)

Suppose mother baked a cake, and she made three equal parts of it and gave 1 part each to my father and me, keeping one for herself. My share is one part out of three.

One third is written as 1/3. Three one thirds make a whole.


Example.3)

Michel and his three friends shared his chocolate  equally. He made 4 equal parts of it, Each got a quarter. 

Quarter (one-fourth) is written as 1/4. Four quarters makes a whole. 


Example.4)

In above picture we can observe that, rectangular diagram has been divided into 12 small rectangular blocks and among them 3 blocks has been colored by green, 5 blocks has been colored by blue, 4 block has been colored by red.

So, proportionate/fraction of colored block is = -----------------

                                                         Total blocks 

                                                         (4 + 5 + 3) 

                                                  =  ---------------

                                                             12

It is happen only through –

 Red Blocks =  1/12 + 1/12 + 1/12 + 1/12  =  4/12

 Blue Blocks =  1/12 + 1/12 + 1/12 + 1/12 + 1/12  =  5/12

 Green Blocks = 1/12 + 1/12 + 1/12  =  3/12

So,  4/12 + 5/12 + 3/12 = (4 + 5 + 3)/12 =  12/12  =  1    (Ans.)
