CLASS-2
EQUAL SHARING & EQUAL GROUPING

EQUAL SHARING & EQUAL GROUPING -

Equal sharing is a primary concept of division, first we have to understand equal distribution process, then we can easily understand division method.

Equal Sharing –

Dividing a number into smaller and equal groups is called equal sharing. There are 12 grains and 3 chicks. How many grains will each chick get ?

We have to divide the total number of grains, that is 12, by the number of chicks, which is 3. We can see that each chick gets 4 grains.

Equal Grouping –

Collecting or arranging small numbers to make a large number is called equal grouping.

Suppose we have 35 flowers and you want to put 5 flowers in each flower vase. How many flower vases would you need?

You put 5 flowers in one flower vase.

You put 5 more flowers in one another flower vase.

You put 5 more flowers in the third flower vase.

You put 5 more flowers in the fourth flower vase.

You put 5 more flowers in the fifth flower vase.

You put 5 more flowers in the sixth flower vase.

You put 5 more flowers in the seventh flower vase.

We have divided the total number of flowers, which is 35, into equal groups of 5. So, we need 7 flower vases.
