DIVISION THROUGH NUMBER LINE VIA  REPEATED SUBTRACTION

DIVISION THROUGH NUMBER LINE VIA REPEATED SUBTRACTION

1) Divide 20 by 4

As per the above picture, start backward counting from 20 with regular interval or jump of 4 steps every time, then you will find that you can jump to reach 0 position of number line from 20 via 4 steps each altogether 5 times you can jump .

So, you can write 20 ÷ 4 = 5, which means to reach from 20th position of number line to 0th position via 4 steps of jump each that will take 5 jumps. 5 jumps of 4 which is 20 ÷ 4 = 5    (Ans.)

2)  Divide 24 by 3

As per the above picture, start backward counting from 24 with regular interval or jump of 3 steps every time, then you will find that you can jump to reach 0 position of number line from 24 via 3 steps each altogether 8 times you can jump .

So, you can write 24 ÷ 3 = 8 , which means to reach from 24th position of number line to 0th position via 3 steps of jump each that will take 8 jumps. 8 jumps of 3 which is 24 ÷ 3 = 8.     (Ans.)

3)  Divide 25 by 5

As per the above picture, start backward counting from 25 with regular interval or jump of 5 steps every time, then you will find that you can jump to reach 0 position of number line from 25 via 5 steps each altogether 5 times you can jump.

So, you can write 25 ÷ 5 = 5, which means to reach from 25th position of number line to 0th position via 5 steps of jump each that will take 5 jumps. 5 jumps of 5 which is 25 ÷ 5 = 5     (Ans).
