SUBTRACTION  OF ‘ONE’

If we subtract One ‘1’ with any number, then the result of the subtraction will be one number less than the given number or previous number of given number . Suppose if we want to subtract one ‘1’ with any number ‘N’ then the result of subtraction will be N - 1 = ( N – 1 ). There are some example are given below for your better understanding –

Example.1)    9 - 1  =  8

                            9

                      -    1

                    -------------

                           8

Here, obtained number 8 is one less than 9 or previous number of given number 9.                (Ans.)

Example.2)    16 - 1  =  15

                            16

                       -     1

                      -------------

                            15

Here, obtained number 15 is one less than 16 or previous number of given number 16           (Ans.)

Example.3)    21 - 1  =  20

                            21

                        -    1

                        -----------

                             20

Here, obtained number 20 is one less than 21 or previous number of given number 20    (Ans.)

Example.4)    93 - 1 =  92

                            93

                         -    1

                        -----------

                            92

Here, obtained number 92 is one less than 93 or previous number of given number 93.        (Ans.)

Example.5)    120 - 1 =  119

                          120

                       -    1

                     -------------

                           119

Here, obtained number 119 is one less than 120 or previous number of given number 120.      (Ans.)

Now for better understanding we will subtract  one ‘1’ object from any given number of object. Subtraction of one ‘1’ object from any given number of object or particle means whatever the object has been given the obtained number will be subtracted by one another same object or article, and obtained number would be one number less than given object or article.

Example.1)

In above picture we can observe that, 6 no.s tiger has been subtracted  with one tiger and now the obtained or the result of subtraction would be 6 - 1 = 5 tigers (just previous number of 6).

Example.2)

In above picture we can observe that, 10 no.s ducks has been subtracted with one duck and now the obtained or the result of subtracted would be 10 - 1 = 9 ducks (just previous number of 10).

Example.3)

In above picture we can observe that, 4 no.s giraffe has been subtracted with one giraffe and now the obtained or the result of subtraction would be 4 - 1 = 3 giraffe (just previous number of 4).

Example.4)

In above picture we can observe that, 8 no.s puppies has been subtracted with one puppy and now the obtained or the result of subtraction would be 8 - 1 = 7 puppies (just previous number of 8).
