CLASS-1
ADDITION OF ZERO

ADDITION OF ‘ZERO’

When you add zero to any number, the sum remains the same. This is because the additive identity property states that the sum of any number and zero is equal to the original number. In mathematical terms:

a + 0 = a,

where 'a' represents any number. So, regardless of the value of 'a', adding zero to it will not change its value.

If we add zero with any number, then the result of the addition will be the number itself. Suppose if we want to add zero ‘0’ with any number ‘N’ then the result of addition or summation will be N + 0 = N

When you add zero to any number, the sum is always the original number itself. This is because zero is known as the additive identity, meaning that when you add it to any number, it does not change the value of that number.

Mathematically, if you have a number x and you add zero to it, the result would be:

x + 0 = x

For example:

  • 5 + 0 = 5,
  • 0 + 0 = 0,
  • (-3) + 0 = -3,

In all these cases, the sum is equal to the original number because zero has no effect on the addition operation.

When you add zero to any number, the sum will always be that number. This is because the property of addition called the identity property of addition states that adding zero to any number does not change its value.

So, if you have a number, let's say 5, and you add zero to it, the sum would be:

5 + 0 = 5,

Similarly, if you have any other number, such as 10, -3, or 1000, adding zero to it would still result in the same number:

10 + 0 = 10,

-3 + 0 = -3,

1000 + 0 = 1000,

In summary, adding zero to any number is like not adding anything at all, as it doesn't change the value of the original number.

When you add zero to any number, the sum is always equal to the original number. This is because zero is known as the additive identity.

For example:

  • 5 + 0 = 5,
  • 100 + 0 = 100,
  • 0 + 0 = 0,

No matter what number you add zero to, the result will be the same number.

There are some example are given below for your better understanding –

Example.1)    4 + 0 = 4

Or,                4

               +    0

               -----------

                     4                 (Ans.)

Example.2)    10 + 0  =  10

Or,                10

                   +  0

                 -----------

                      10                 (Ans.)

Example.3)    8 + 0 = 8

Or,                8

               +    0

               -----------

                     8                    (Ans.)

Example.4)    125 + 0 = 125

Or,            125

              +     0

             -------------

                  125                   (Ans.)

Example.5)    12876 + 0 = 12876

Or,                 12876

                      +      0

                   --------------

                       12876                   (Ans.)

Now for better understanding we will add zero with any object. Addition of zero ‘0’ with any object or particle means nothing has been added with the said object or particle.

In above picture zero ‘0’ has been added with two zebra, addition of zero means nothing has been added, so the total number of object remain the same which is two zebra.

In above picture zero ‘0’ has been added with three giraffe, addition of zero means nothing has been added, so the total number of object remain the same which is three giraffe.

In above picture zero ‘0’ has been added with five tigers, addition of zero means nothing has been added, so the total number of object remain the same which is five tigers.
